Interim Pastor Update:
The process to find an interim pastor is progressing. Our requirements and criteria have been submitted to IPM, the company we have chosen to provide us an interim pastor, and they are searching their pastor pool to identify potential candidates for our church.
The contract for an interim pastor requires that the church provide housing for the pastor and his family, typically just his wife. We are asking for help from the congregation to come up with possible options on housing, either an apartment or house. If anyone has, or knows someone who has, an apartment or house that would be available for rent, starting in July for about a year, we would love to hear from you. As I am sure you are aware, the housing market in the Tri-Cities is extremely tight. Occupancy rates for rental properties are above 95%. We expect it will be difficult to find a rental going through the normal channels, so we are asking for your help.
The housing we need to provide must also be furnished. It does not have to be new or even matched, but it does need to be comfortable! If anyone has any spare furniture that they are willing to donate towards furnishing a home for our interim pastor, we would love to hear from you. We will also need bed and bath linens and kitchen items such as pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc.
If you can help us meet any of these needs, please contact any of the Interim Pastor Selection Committee: Myron Baird (627-2520); Jay Johnson (967-9056); Jessica Bemis (531-6503); or Gwen Risenhoover (591-5640).
Summer Blast at Camp Wooten:
Summer is on the way!
And with that encouragement, you are also encouraged to mark your calendar for this year's Summer Blast at Camp Wooten! This a children's camp for those entering 3rd-6th grade in the fall of 2017 (campers must be at least 8 years old by July 1). Registration forms will be available in the foyer before April. Camp dates are Saturday, July 29 - Wednesday morning, August 2. *Please note the change to a weekend date.
Camper registration: $185 prior to June 24, $205 after. Some full and partial scholarships are available.
As a church, we need to send 1 male and 1 female cabin counselor, aged 20 years and up, to guide 8-10 of our campers through a fun and nurturing 5 days - with the help of a young adult assistant. Please consider if this is a way you can participate in ministry this year!
Governing Board Update:
The Church signs are finally complete! The total cost of the project was $10,882. To date, the congregation has generously donated $5,970 to the project. If you feel led to donate to the project, we have $4,912 to go.
Happy Mother’s Day!
